Effective 01-2009:

The OFFENSE MECHANISMS imprint of Silverthought Press seeks submissions of quality work in the genre of transgressive fiction. The focus of this imprint will be the publication of novels, but we will consider novellas and short story collections on a case-by-case basis. Offense Mechanisms will publish 1-3 books/quarter, but we have a rolling submissions policy. If you would like to submit your manuscript, please first contact editor Paul Hughes with your query. N.B.: Offense Mechanisms is a print venue; there is no online publishing component. We will however occasionally publish works of a transgressive nature in ST: Online, the online publishing venue of Silverthought. Please direct submissions accordingly.

Printed manuscripts are given priority, but keep in mind that given the nature of our digital assembly/production/distribution methods, eventually we will require a digital version of your manuscript. Word Normal in Times New Roman 12 is preferred.

PLEASE NOTE: PROOFREAD YOUR SUBMISSIONS. Read your manuscript in its entirety at least once before submitting it. Use a spell checker. Read dialogue out loud. Change the font to Arial 72 and read it again. You'll find things you don't like. If you don't like them, we won't either. If you require professional editing services, please contact us for a quote.

This imprint's focus is transgressive fiction. Given the subjective definition of transgression, all manuscripts will be evaluated for appropriateness for Offense Mechanisms. Speculative fiction submissions (sci-fi, fantasy, horror) will be forwarded to Silverthought Press. Non-fiction, poetry, and literary fiction submissions will be forwarded to Megan's Closet.
